Animal Handling, Safety and Compliance

Pet Professionals Australia (RTO no 70236) now offers our Animal Handling, Safety and Compliance Course as an online course, allowing you to improve staff confidence and workplace compliance with minimal disruption to your workforce.


With a strong focus on animal handling and safety, including welfare legislation, capture and transport and identifying body language, this course is designed for those people within your organisation working and interacting with companion animals. As well as upskilling your workforce and ensuring your Work Health & Safety Compliance, undertaking this course will also improve your organisation’s market leverage, enhance your staff confidence and ensure your staff’s safety when approaching and interacting with dogs.



This course focuses on the care, control, handling and safety of companion animals – including welfare, capture and transport – this course has been designed to teach the handling and safety of companion animals to anyone working and interacting with dogs. This course is Ideal for council rangers, vet nurses, dog walkers, groomers and those working in emergency services. Assessments are based on real life scenarios to ensure students have confidence in their learning outcomes.



This course offers flexible learning with the delivery of training modules online. The online training module requires up to 10 hours of online study. Coupled with the option of Face to Face workshops with experts in the field, this is a great course to ensure WHS and safety around animals.



This course has been developed specifically to assist people working in any position that may involve interaction with dogs.


Within your organisation, this may include council rangers, utilities service people, real estate employees, emergency services, pet travel staff, welfare/animal workers, vet nurses, dog walkers, pet groomers, pet shop workers and consumers.

How to Enrol

When you’re ready to enrol, click on the ‘Take this Course’ or ‘Enquire Now’ button and fill in your details, one of our dedicated education staff will contact you to discuss your course enrolment. Once the right course and study method have been selected you will be provided with a link for online enrolment into the next available intake in your state.


You will also be asked to complete and return a LLN (Language, Literacy and numeracy) test which is a course requirement to be made by an approved course provider or a Commonwealth, State or Territory government agency, Photo ID will also be required to complete the enrolment process. All Australian students require a valid USI which can be obtained from www.usi.gov.au if you do not already have one.


Once you have completed the online enrolment process, you will be provided with an invoice for payment at which time you can choose to pay upfront of via our payment plan provider EdStart offering interest free payment plans so you only pay for your course no hidden extras.
