This course comprises seventeen (17) units of competency, which will cover a range of topics in animal care. At the end of the course, you will have expert knowledge in:

  • Contributing to workplace health and safety processes
  • Complying with infection control policies and procedures in animal care work
  • Providing basic animal first aid
  • Identify behaviours and interact safely with animals
  • Providing general care of domestic dogs
  • Caring for young animals
  • Walking and exercising dogs
  • Providing general care of domestic cats
  • Carrying out simple breeding procedures
  • Providing nutritional requirements for animals
  • Providing enrichment for animals
  • Conditioning animal behaviour
  • Implementing and monitoring environmental sustainable work practices
  • Assessing the welfare status of an animal
  • Promoting positive wellbeing in self and others in animal care workplaces
  • Communicating effectively with clients and team members
  • Maintaining and monitoring animal health and wellbeing

We ensure that all students are confident to practice their expertise in the real world, that is why we provide practical training at our parent company – Hanrob Pet Hotels in Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane and Melbourne, to gain real-world experiences that can be applied upon the completion of your course.

We don’t stop there. We take a personal interest in our student’s journeys and support them to secure work placement. We identify super-stars from our intakes and provide opportunities for permanent ongoing paid work placements post the completion of your course at our Pet Hotels. During the course you will be required to complete 120 hours of work placement at our Hanrob Pet Hotels that houses and cares for dogs and cats.

Demand for animal care workers is growing and with many people purchasing dogs and cats during the COVID period, this growth is driven by increased consumer expectations on how their pet companions should be cared for. These greater expectations are leading to employers that require workers who are highly qualified and experienced.
Course Delivery: Blended delivery with online written assessments and learning material, online weekly tutorials and face to face practical weekend sessions at our Hanrob Pet Hotels.
Work Placement: There is an industry requirement for work placement during this course which we offer in one of Hanrob’s Pet Hotels Nationally, which takes the stress out of finding your own placement. We also supply insurance cover while you are with us.






Course Fees


The ACM30121 – Certificate III in Animal Care Services course fees are $3,500 including GST. This covers a non-refundable enrolment fee of $275, course materials, work placement, and practical costs. Our accredited courses can be paid to Hanrob in two stages – $500 deposit paid to secure your enrolment into the course and the balance owing can be paid with our Edstart partners Pay your fees at Hanrob College with Edstart for easy payments at no cost to you.
